BASIC GUIDELINES, OBJECTIVES AND CLASS RULES

On Pointe Studio will include units on jazz, tap and musical elements, hip hop, ballet and beginning choreography elements. On Pointe students will demonstrate their proficiency in a variety of dance styles in a required performance.

CLASS OBJECTIVES  
1.  To attain a familiarity with basic ballet, tap and jazz dance vocabulary and choreography.          
2.  To execute dance with proper technique.           
3.  To execute an ability to move through space with ease.        
4.  To increase awareness of body weight and strength (conditioning for dance).
5.  To increase awareness of the relationship between dance and music.         
6.  To understand dance as an art form and improve style and artistic impression.


CLASS RULES               
1.  Absolutely NO CELL PHONES!
2.  No gum chewing!                
3.  Be on time!  If student will be more than 10 minutes late, please call.
4.  Be respectful of your classmates, instructors and the dance room.
5.  If  you have an injury or illness that will hinder your class participation, please notify your instructor before class.
6.  Proper dress code should be followed.
7.  Be creative!
8.  Have fun and enjoy yourself!


ATTENDANCE
Punctual and regular attendance is expected of all registered students.  Students must maintain regular class attendance in order to progress effectively.  Students will only be allowed to miss three unexcused classes after January 1, 2021.  No unexcused absences will be allowed during the month of May!  Failure to comply with end with your child forfeiting the right to perform in the recital. 

DISCOUNTS
If you would like to pay your tuition fees in full at registration, you will receive a 10% discount. 

BILLING CYCLE
 An account statement will be sent home on the last week of every month.  This statement is due on the 1st of each month.  If payment is more than 10 days overdue, a late fee of $10.00 will be charged.  There will be a $35.00 charge for all NSF checks returned to the studio.

STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UP
Parents are asked to remain with students until class changes.   Due to limited seating space, no one is allowed to remain in the studio during class time.  Parents are asked to pick students up in a timely manner after the end of classes. We respectfully request that all students be picked up no later than five (5) minutes following the end of each class. 


STUDENT TEACHING CLASSES
Student teaching can be started once a student reaches the  7th grade.  Additional  instructions and classes will be necessary to qualify to student teach.  Classes will be appointed by the studio choreographer to the student teachers.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students become eligible for dance graduation once they become seventeen (17) years of age and have met all studio requirements.  The studio choreographer is responsible for all graduation requirements and a separate Graduation Guideline syllabus will be available to those students reaching graduation age.

CLASS CANCELLATION (DUE TO WEATHER OR  EMERGENCIES)
If there is a question regarding cancellation due to inclement weather, please call the studio at 519-8578 for up-to-date information. Canceled classes will be made up during the school year or at the end of the season.

CLASS CANCELLATION
The studio reserves the right to cancel a class because of  insufficient enrollment at any time during the course of the year.  Class minimum is 5 students, the maximum is between 10-25 depending on the level and classroom used.

LIABILITY
The studio and instructors are not liable for personal or body injuries. Neither are we responsible for loss or damage to personal property.  Dance is a physical activity and injuries may occur. It is the student’s responsibility to inform the instructor of any physical limitations, which may prevent full participation. We are not liable for students on the premises outside of their class time.
